Ken Christensen is no longer the Stoney Nakoda Chief Financial Officer as of earlier this month.

Confirmed at the Bearspaw Kananaskis Travel Centre opening on Thursday (May 23), when Bearspaw CEO Rob Shotclose gave thanks to those who were no longer with tribal administration but still helped with the project, naming Christensen in the mix – Chiefs confirmed the position has already been filled.

Andre Buss is the new acting Tribal Administrator and CFO as of "a couple of weeks ago" for the Nation compromised of three bands, Bearspaw, Chiniki and Wesley, with a population of approximately 4,000 to 5,000 people.

Buss worked as the Tribe's financial manager in the early 2000's but was not available for comment on at the ceremony.

Stoney Tribal HR director Lisa Wynands could not confirm if Christensen left or was let go.

"Out of respect and due to privacy we do not comment on current or former employees," Wynands said.

While officials could not recall the amount of time Christensen held his position, first as the acting Tribal Administrator and later CFO, the general consensus was he had been with the Nation since the early 2010s.

According to the Stoney Nakoda Human Resources Facebook page, the Public Works Manager job was posted earlier this month, on May 14 but filled by the end of the day by a Nation member.

When asked for comment on the direction of the Nation, Bearspaw Chief Darcy Dixon said the Nation needs more.

"It's been idle for too long," Dixon said.
