Student rides for cancer

Bow Valley High School (BVHS) Grade 10 student Amy Chiddle will be riding to raise money for Wellspring Calgary May 25. “I was inspired by WeDay, an International Motivational Speakers Day,” said Chiddle.

Bow Valley High School (BVHS) Grade 10 student Amy Chiddle will be riding to raise money for Wellspring Calgary May 25.

“I was inspired by WeDay, an International Motivational Speakers Day,” said Chiddle. “I returned wanting to make a change in people’s lives who struggle with situations such as cancer. My Nan has had four different types of cancer since the age of 50 and my mom’s best friend, who’s 36, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Our family is lucky to still have both of those individuals with us today, but other people and their families are not always that lucky.”

Chiddle’s classmate Courtney Raessler is assisting Chiddle with the fundraising efforts prior to the bike event.

Wellspring Calgary says it exists to inform, support, and empower those living with cancer and those who love and care for them, by helping to address the fear, isolation, disruption and practical problems which cancer can bring to our lives.

To date, Chiddle has raised approximately $400; her goal is $5,000. Anyone interested in contributing to her effort can go to the ‘Bobcat Girl’ donation site on Wellspring Calgary’s ‘sponsor a participant’ site: gifttool.com/athon/MyFundraisingPage.
