It’s beginning to look like the owners of former Cochrane bar Texas Gate Eatery and Saloon may soon be back in business.

Mark and Michelle Horton are in the process of acquiring the Rockyview Hotel from Joanne Gau and Clem Walisser. The venue is currently home to the Stageline Saloon and the Canyon Rose Steakhouse.

“We’ve reached an agreement, but no documents are official yet,” Mark Horton said. “We expect to have possession of the space on Feb. 11.”

More details will be released once the deal is finalized, he said.

This is the latest of a series of recent changes in the local restaurant and nightlife scene.

Rose Dallyn, owner of Bragg Creek’s PowderHorn Saloon, is opening the Bullhorn Saloon at the former Texas Gate Eatery and Saloon location at 113 Railway Street West in Cochrane. The grand opening party is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. Check bullhornsaloon.ca for confirmation.

Also, work has begun on Killarney’s Cochrane, an Irish pub opening in the Cochrane Golf Course’s space that was formerly home to AC’s Restaurant and Lounge. No opening date has been officially announced but owner Michael Pyne told the Cochrane Eagle recently that he was hoping to open before St. Patrick’s Day, or March 17.
