Thank you to all the amazing volunteers that put together the 1st Cochrane Culture Fest last Sunday at the Lions Event Centre! Thanks to their efforts, close to 700 people were able to enjoy learning about their neighbours.
It was a wonderful afternoon of food, music and sharing. Volunteers manned booths representing 16 different cultures while 11 volunteer groups offered an entertainment program. It was a colour-filled “community building” day despite the blanket of white snow our town woke up to.
Attendees continually commented on what a wonderful event it was and gave their appreciation to the volunteers and Planning Committee for putting it all together.
Many people commented that they felt it was about time Cochrane had its own event to celebrate multiculturalism.
The day was an excellent demonstration of the ethnic diversity in Cochrane and the way Cochranites unselfishly work together.
The Planning Committee is now looking forward to a bigger and better celebration during Alberta Culture Days 2020. Thank you for your support Cochrane!
