The Faces of Cochrane Mosaic looking for more entries

It's your last chance to have your photo taken to be part of the Faces of Cochrane Mosaic- a diversity awareness project.

The diverse and multicultural not so little town that is: Cochrane.

A 4 ft. by 6 ft. collage-style project that has been in the works for a few months now is nearing an end. The Faces of Cochrane Mosaic is almost complete but the hope is to get a few more friendly faces added before it travels throughout Cochrane come the new year.

"Showing your cultural heritage breaks down barriers and allows you to know and understand your neighbour," explains Jackie Shier, a volunteer with the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee. "You have an appreciation for diversity and that makes us stronger as a community."

The bulk of the photos were captured at Culture Fest and since the event the mosaic has slowly been assembled. Shier is looking forward to the big reveal next month, but would like to gather a handful of images to finalize the piece. She mentions there is a slew of photos from Cochranites but some countries are missing which she would love to have represented and displayed in the mosaic.

Some countries the Faces of Cochrane would like to showcase are individuals from South America, mainland Europe, Africa and Asia. Shier has set Saturday, Dec. 21 as a target date to acquire the remaining photos. She mentions that due to scheduling restraints with the graphic designer any inquiries made after the 21st will have to be kindly declined.

If you are from one of the countries listed above and are interested in having your photo taken reach out to Shier at [email protected] or call her at 403-681-5455 to set up a time and a place.

Shier says she is very accommodating and is hopeful that the remainder of the countries can be presented to add to the distinct array of faces that make up Cochrane.
