Traffic lights coming to Sunset Ridge

Crews are out working in the community of Sunset Ridge.

Traffic light installation was scheduled to start between the intersection of Sunset Drive and Sunset Boulevard on Monday, Oct. 7, but due to inclement weather work was delayed until this morning.

According to Melcor and the Town of Cochrane, the traffic lights were a population threshold requirement set out in the Sunset Ridge stage two neighbourhood plan. This indicates the minimum population needed to justify a service "traffic lights" which can then be provided. The end result requests Melcor to construct the the traffic lights who will also be footing the bill.

The installation will take about a month, depending on weather, and the lights should be up and running "before the end of the year" said Brent O' Neill, assistant development manager for Melcor. Final touches and landscaping will be completed in the spring.

Please exercise caution while crews are out working.

Hopefully this adds some traffic relief to the fairly busy one way in, one way out artery in Sunset Ridge.
