STONEY NAKODA— Cochrane RCMP is requesting the public's assistance in locating Mikka Manybeares, 9, who was reported missing Wednesday (May 5).

The Free Bike Safety Day will be capped at 100 youth participants to adhere to COVID-19 public health measures. The capacity cap is subject to change based on public health measures.

“I’ve been in Cochrane for quite a while and I can think of a couple of instances like this. It’s not super common, I would say it’s a little more common in Kananaskis area itself. We’ve had a few of them over the years. We’ve had some close calls as well, with some aggressive animals and stuff, but not too many where it’s the cause of death.”

“We will not permit our health care system to be overwhelmed. We must not and we will not force our doctors and nurses to decide who gets the care and who doesn’t,” Kenney said. “We must act now to stop the spike.”

ROCKY VIEW— Rocky View Schools announced Monday (May 3) all Grade 7 to 12 students will temporarily move to online learning starting Tuesday (May 4).

The Town of Cochrane had a reported 204 active cases of COVID-19 as of the end of the day Sunday (May 2). Outbreaks of five or more cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Bow Valley High School, Cochrane High School, RancheView School, St. Timothy High School and Cochrane Christian Academy.

“Residents have a responsibility to not encourage bears to be in Cochrane and that really does come down to the availability of food,” Honeyman said. “If people can make that food not available, they’re not going to have any bear issues.”
