Captain Brandon Aab scored the game winner with just over two minutes remaining in the overtime frame to help the Cochrane Generals beat the Medicine Hat Cubs 3-2, forcing a Game 6 in their second round best-of-seven Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) series, with Cochrane now trailing in the series three games to two.

Medicine Hat opened the scoring midway through the first period and held the lead until Chris Sambrook found the back of the net, tying the game at 1-1 heading into the third period. Just minutes into the third, Ryan Davis found a lane to the net and blasted the puck past the Cubs goaltender to put the home side up 2-1, but the lead would only last for minutes as the Cubs found the equalizer on a nice individual effort with 12 minutes remaining in the game. There were chances both ways, but both goaltenders stood tall, forcing overtime.

The teams would once again trade numerous chances in the extra frame, but Aab redirected a Dean Olenyk shot that deflected past the out stretched arm of the Cubs goaltender and into the back of the net giving Cochrane the victory.

The Gens would look to once again live to see another day when Game 6 takes place tomorrow night in Medicine Hat. Puck drop will go at 7:30 p.m.
