The Bow Valley Timberwolves AA Peewee Team is hosting a practice with 40 Timbits players this Saturday, where the Peewee team will mentor the younger players on the ice.

On Dec. 13, the Timberwolves will also mentor Timbits in Canmore ahead of a charity hockey game at the Canmore Rec Team at 5 p.m. This “Battle of the Badges” will see Fire/EMS square off against the Police to raise funds for Project All In.

The Project All In Foundation is rooted in suicide prevention and supporting mental health initiatives for first responders.

“Teaching the future Timberwolves in a learn-to-play program was chosen by the players as a fantastic way to directly contribute to their local hockey associations,” said head coach Kyle McLaughlin.

A coach by night, McLaughlin is an ER doctor by day in Canmore, as well as the medical director for Banff National Park – which has given him firsthand experience at seeing what first responders go through.

With 13 players on the Timberwolves AA Peewee team, most have family members who serve as first responders in some capacity – making this year’s fundraising focus an easy one.
