What better stage than the Big Apple to get your first National Hockey League goal?

Bragg Creek hockey product and Okotoks Oilers junior A alumnus Dylan Holloway scored his first NHL goal to help key a comeback 4-3 victory for the Edmonton Oilers on the road over the New York Rangers last Saturday afternoon at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 26.

“It’s pretty special, definitely a memory and a goal that I will remember forever so I’m just really excited about it,” Holloway told media in a post-game scrum. “It took me a little bit, but I’m happy to get the first one out of the way."

Holloway, Edmonton’s 2020 first-round draft pick, tied the game at 3-3 at the 10:21 mark of the third period on a wrist shot on the rush.

Leon Draisaitl added the game winner in the late stages with defenceman Evan Bouchard scoring twice earlier in the frame as the visitors scored four unanswered to shock the Rangers.

“It was a great all-around effort by my line and it was really cool that it went in,” he said. “It was a really good team effort the whole game. Bouch had two really nice goals and Leo got the game winner there.”

An Okotoks Jr. Oiler from 2017-19 who calls Bragg Creek home, the 21-year-old has one goal and two assists in 20 career games with Edmonton.

“I’ve just been trying to establish myself and fill a role,” said Holloway. “Tonight felt pretty good. Playing at MSG for the first time, it’s a pretty special feeling so I got a little adrenaline going into the game.”
