Cochrane boys Crush the competition

Cochrane Crush baseball is back in swing, with games every Wednesday and Saturday between the three teams in the local cohort.

COCHRANE— The Cochrane Crush Major AAA boys took to the field Wednesday night (July 8) against the Foothills Little League team from Calgary.

The Crush showed up to play and got started early, earning run after run, with the Foothills boys unable to respond.

In the minor leagues, after six runs, the players switch from batting to fielding. The Crush managed to score six runs in two separate innings during Wednesday's game.

Not only were the batters swinging heat, but the defence also looked tight as well.

During the final play of the game, with a Foothills player on second base, the batter connected sending the ball hurling past the pitcher, to be scooped by an infielder and quickly thrown to #11, Bo Anderson, who stood ready on third base.

Bo made the catch, got the touch, and closed out the game on a beautiful play.

The game ended with a score of 22 – 6 for the hometown team.

Because of the health protocols in place, at the end of the game, both teams raised their hats to each other in lieu of the usual handshake.

The Crush head to Calgary this weekend for back-to-back games against Foothills Little League and Centennial Little League on Saturday (July 11).
