Cochranites headed to +55 provincials

Joan and Chris Logan qualified for mixed doubles by winning gold Zone 2 (Big Country Senior Sports Society) play June 8 at Glenbow tennis courts in Cochrane. Lorraine Fader and Patricia Wylie qualified in women’s 55-plus doubles by winning Zone gold.

More than 20 Cochrane golfers made the cut in June 5 Zone 2 qualifying play at Three Hills Golf Club. Nick Radmanovich qualified in the 55 men’s division. In 65 men’s, Frank Hutchins, Chris Logan, Jim Wilkie, Doug Stancer, Bob Barnett, Bill Lee, John Paul and Bill Gibbons all advanced. In men’s 75 play, Phil Primeau, Bob Thomas and Cliff Moe qualified.

Bonnie Barnett won the 55 women’s Zone qualifier to advance to provincials. Beryl Moe, Barb Gibson, Shirley Williams, Anne Fairless, Marg Stancer, Leilani DuToit and Joan Logan all advanced in the women’s 65 class. In the women’s 75 division, Margaret Whitlock, Donna Tomecek, Shirley Thomas and Elizabeth Stone.

Bragg Creek participants include Colin Gilbert in men’s 65 and Gloria Perrin in women’s 55. Sharon McPherson of Redwood Meadows qualified in the women’s 65 division and Dave McPherson in the men’s 65.

In horseshoes, Dave and Sharon McPherson and Doug Campbell all qualified.

Cochrane’s Nancy Gibbie won gold to advance in the women’s 55 Zone pool 8-ball event, with DuToit also qualifying in third.

Cochrane’s Bill Gibbons and Karl Gibbie both advanced in the men’s 70+ pool 8 ball event.
