Darci Peterson leads Thunder to successful Cities

The St. Timothy Thunder had a successful showing at the City Championships.

The St Timothy’s Thunder Track & Field competed at the Calgary Zone/City Championship on Saturday, May 25. The team saw some very stiff competition, but also saw some outstanding results. It was a banner day for Darci Petersen, the school’s standout rookie, who won both the 1,500m and 3,000m in the Junior Girls division, she will be contesting these events at ASAA Provincial Champs June 7 and 8 in Calgary; she will be a favourite for a medal in these contests. Eric Swedlo won a bronze medal in a hotly contested SB 800m field. And surprise jumper Mackenzie Rosebrugh placed fourth overall in the Intermediate Girls triple jump. Eric and Mackenzie will be alternates for provincials.

Results breakdown for the Thunder are as follows:

Charlotte Trainor – seventh in junior girls 1,500m

Erin Schoombee – ninth in Long Jump, 11th Triple Jump, Junior Girls

Julianna Mackenzie – 10th in Shot put, 10th Javelin, Intermediate Girls

Kennedy Michalski – eighth in 200m, Senior Girls

Maggie Brolsma – 12th in 1,500m, Senior Girls

Mikenna Spademan – fifth in Triple Jump, Senior Girls

Jackson Streeter – eighth in Long Jump, 12th Triple Jump, Junior Boys

Eric Swedlo – Also fifth in 1,500m, 10th High Jump, Senior Boys

Scott Delsing – seventh in 1,500m, 5th 3,000m, Senior Boys

Ethan Montague – ninth in 800m, 5th 1,500m, Intermediate Boys

Koover Schmidt – 11th in 800m, 11th 1,500m, eighth in Intermediate Boys Open Mens 4x400m

The Coaching Staff is very proud of the team’s efforts, and is looking to seeing Darci represent the Thunder at ASAA Track & Field Provincials!
