GALLERY: Cochrane Generals rock the Rams 6-3

The Cochrane Generals junior B hockey team maintained their second-place position in the Heritage Junior Hockey League's (HJHL) south division thanks to a 6-3 win over the Rocky Rams on Nov. 18, at the Cochrane Arena.

The Generals took a 5-0 lead in the opening two periods, but allowed the Rams to make a game of itwith three unanswered goals. Tristan Ripplinger scored twice for the hosts, while the Gens' other goals came from Connor Stephenson, Zac Fulton, Dagan Kadlec, and Riley Hopper.

Cochrane was two-for-three on the power play and goalie Jordan McGinnis blocked 27 shots for a .900 save percentage.

The win on home ice improved the Generals' record to 13-6 in the 2022-23 HJHL season. Currently holding onto second spot in the south division, the Gens have a narrow two-point lead over the Medicine Hat Cubs, albeit with two games in hand. The Okotoks Carstar Bisons continue to dominate the division with a 17-1 record. 

While he didn't find the net on Friday night, Gens forward and team captain Patrick Forde continues to lead the HJHL in scoring this season, with 37 points. 

Cochrane's junior B team will resume the 2022-23 campaign at home Nov. 25 and 27 against the Red Deer Vipers and the Coaldale Copperheads. The game against the Vipers gets underway at 7:30 p.m., while puck-drop for the duel with the Copperheads is at 2:30 p.m.
