The Mountain View Junior Rodeo Club held a full day rodeo at the Bearspaw Rodeo Centre, just west of Cochrane on Feb. 22.

More than 70 kids, aged 5 to 16, competed in 20 different events including barrel racing, goat tying, steer wrestling, pole bending among others.

The winner for the seven and under category in barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying was Liam Havens. Avery Gertner won in the eight to 10 range for goat tying. Teyton Thomson took home the winning prize in barrels and Ellie Havens in pole bending. Levi Hunter won the breakaway roping challenge.

In the 11 to 13 age range, Reagan Brink won goat tying, Holton Harms won the breakaway roping, while Cassidy McArthur finished first in barrels. Emma Webb was also victorious in pole bending while Luke Walker won the 13 and under category for steer riding.

In the final age grouping, Karlee Tetz finished first in the 14 to 16 goat tying, Emma Webb won barrels, Waci Thomson was the winner in pole bending, Garrett Barreth won the breakaway roping and Keston Loewen was crowned the winner of the steer riding.

The finals will be held on March 21 at the Bearspaw Rodeo Centre.
