Cochrane's beloved pond hockey tournament is making a comeback after a COVID-19 bye year and registration is open.
"It's been a difficult year for many Albertans," said Kimmett Cup organizers in a statement. "But things are beginning to look more optimistic."
In efforts to boost registration at this year's 3-on-3 memorial hockey tournament this Feb. 4-6, the organizing committee has opened its early bird registration, but teams will have to act fast as the deadline is next week.
Teams can register online at kimmettcup.com for $200 before noon Dec. 6. Afterwards, the registration fee jumps to $400 a team.
This year, organizers have taken extra precautions to implement several safety protocols and will encourage physical distancing, hand hygiene and prevent symptomatic individuals from entering the tournament area, the statement reads.
All players and volunteers will be required to show proof of vaccination, a negative test result or a medical exemption in order to participate in the event.
