The Cochrane Challengers welcomed Special Olympian Elouise Stewart home in style during a Feb. 11 meet up at Cochrane Lanes.

The champion cross-country skier arrived back in Cochrane from the World Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Feb. 6, bringing with her a haul of hardware – two silver medals and a gold.

Surrounded by admiring children, the humble athlete said she isn’t wrapped up in the prestige of the accolades.

“For me it’s not about the medals, it’s about getting out and skiing,” she said.

Stewart was the runner-up in both the Female Classic 7.5K and the 4-K team relay event. She finished in 33 minutes 23 seconds, and 18 minutes 15 seconds, respectively.

She topped the podium in the Female Classic 10K ski, with a blazing time of 50 minutes and three seconds.
