Head coach Khari Jones and the Montreal Alouettes learned last year CFL teams can never have enough quarterback depth. Montreal re-signed American Trevor Harris on Wednesday, the second day of CFL free agency. He joins incumbent Vernon Adams Jr.

VANCOUVER — The B.C. Lions signed linebacker Kevin Francis, quarterback Isaac Harker and offensive lineman Jamar McGloster on Wednesday. Francis is a Canadian while Harker and McGloster are Americans.

MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens, mired in a season-long tailspin, have fired Dominique Ducharme and named Hall of Fame forward Martin St. Louis as interim head coach.

TORONTO — Two days into CFL free agency and the Toronto Argonauts already like what they see.

OTTAWA — Patrick Levels is on the move. The veteran American defensive back agreed to terms with the Ottawa Redblacks on Wednesday.

CALGARY — Cornell Brown is back with the Calgary Stampeders coaching staff. Head coach Dave Dickenson announced Wednesday that Brown will round out his '22 staff as the Stampeders defensive line coach.

AUSTIN, Texas — Jordan Perruzza scored for the third pre-season game in a row as Toronto FC downed Austin FC 2-1 on Wednesday. The game marked the Toronto debut of Spanish forward Jesus Jimenez, signed from Poland's Gornik Zabrze.

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed veteran American defensive linemen Micah Johnson and J.R. Tavai on Wednesday.

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders signed free-agent Canadian linebacker D.J. Lalama on Wednesday. The six-foot, 222-pound Lalama had 25 tackles, eight special-teams tackles and a sack in 11 regular-season games last year with Montreal.

After turning around Poland's men's basketball team, Mike Taylor is embarking on a new adventure — coaching in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Taylor was announced Wednesday as the new head coach of the Fraser Valley Bandits.
