ALEXANDER, Donald (Don) Morley

December 22, 1931 – December 4, 2021

Don was the oldest of four children born to David and Leola Alexander in Windsor, Ontario where he lived until relocating to London, Ontario after his schooling. There he met and married the love of his life Caroline (nee Thompson) and began a family.

Don enjoyed working in retail sales, and later selling life insurance. For Don, connecting with and helping the people he met brought him tremendous joy and satisfaction, whether through work or everyday life.

In 1976 the family visited Alberta and B.C., falling in love with the peace, beauty and tranquility. In 1978 he and his family moved to Cochrane where he continued selling life insurance and touching the lives of everyone he met until he retired in 2000.

Retirement allowed him to renew his love of creative pursuits. He took up watercolours, spending many hours painting, but his first passion was always music. From an early age he loved to sing, and was proud to be part of the choir at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Don was devoted to his family, always making sure weekends were family time. Whether outdoors skiing, skating, camping and hiking, or playing games and cards at home, he was always ready for anything, quick to laugh and join in, as long as family was together.

Don passed away peacefully in his sleep December 4 when the Lord called him home after a long struggle with illness. Left to mourn are his beloved wife of 56 years Caroline, sons Robert (Patti) and Steven; grandson Nicholas, sister Jean (Frank) Stuhlmueller, sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Marilyn; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Don was held December 15th at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, the Canadian Lung Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
