Bennett, Linda Catherine Lucy

1943 – 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Linda Catherine Lucy Crooks-Bennett, on December 21,2021 with her family at her side.

She will forever be loved and remembered by her four children, Julie (Gerald) Roscoe, Robert (Lorie) Legault, Steven Legault, and Anthony (Mickey) Legault; her 8 grandchildren Jordan, Amanda, Krystyna, Jesse, Jeramie, Stephen, Jarred, Lucas, and her great grandson, Theo. Linda is survived by her brother Grant (Alice Keen), her sisters-in-law Eileen “Dee Dee” Crooks, Marlene Crooks, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Ray Bennett, sister Mavis (Gerhardt Neilsen), her brothers, Wayne (Marlene) Crooks, Gary (Eileen) Crooks and her parents, John Wesley Crooks and Thelma Lillian MacRae.

Linda was the youngest of five children born on June 23,1943 in Hawkesbury, Ontario. She grew up in the Grenville / Hawkesbury areas during her childhood and young adult years. In 1977 she moved west to Calgary Alberta with her husband, Jacques Legault, and their four children. Linda worked briefly in the hospitality industry, at the Sheraton Hotel as Front Desk Hostess before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1978. Linda worked in the computer manufacturing industry with her 2nd husband, Ray Bennett. Linda loved to attend Country Music festivals throughout the United States and socialize with new people making lifetime friends throughout her travels. She resided in Phoenix for 39 years before moving back to Canada 2018. Once she was settled in her new residence at the Grand Avenue Village, she enjoyed working as a volunteer for special events held for the residents on a weekly basis. It was here and while working briefly at Montana’s Restaurant that Linda met new friends that welcomed her into the Cochrane community.

Linda enjoyed having dinner and a glass of wine with family and friends while listening to favorite country music songs. She will be forever dearly missed.

A Private Committal Service will be held on July 22, 2022 at the Eden Brook Memorial Gardens in Calgary, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Linda can be made to local food banks, homeless shelters, or a charity of one’s choice.
