BLADON, Beverly “Bev” Joan (nee Purdy), December 18, 1949 – August 17, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly Bladon. Bev was born and raised in Trail, BC and moved to Calgary in 1968. She worked long and hard to establish herself in her successful career as a Professional Accountant while raising her children. Her practical and logical mind served her well in those demanding endeavours. When she turned 50 she enrolled in art classes and immediately discovered her great talent as an artist. She spent her remaining years immersed in her artistic passion and produced many beautiful paintings; a joy to her in the creation and a source of lasting enjoyment for those who now own them. With Bruce she relocated from Calgary to Cochrane in 2014, loved the town and its people, and was a valued member of the Foothills Art Club and The Escape Artists.
A loyal, kind and thoughtful soul, Bev is survived by her loving and much loved husband Bruce, by her son Steven Smith (Sharlene Jerome-Smith), her daughter Nicole Gettle (Lance), Bruce’s daughter Lana Wright, Bruce’s son Michael (Adrienne), and her treasured grandchildren Emma, Noah, Kayla, Claire, and Leah. She is also survived by her brother Brian Purdy (Alice), her sister Vivienne Schulz (Lothar), Nicole’s father Brian Smith, a nephew and nieces, cherished long-time friends in Alberta, and life-long friends in Trail and Castlegar, BC. Bev was taken by pancreatic cancer and passed peacefully at home. At Bev’s request, there will not be a formal service, but rather a “joyous wake” shared by family and friends at a later date.
