BOWERMAN, Cole Christian

March 24, 1989 – September 29, 2020

It is with our deepest sorrow we announce the unexpected passing of Cole Bowerman at the University of Alberta Hospital, Coronary Care Unit in Edmonton, Alberta on September 29, 2020.

Cole is survived by his parents Curtis and Debbie (Huber), his brother Dylan, his grandmother Donna Huber (Regina, Sask.),uncle Jerry Jo Huber (Regina, SK), uncle Mark Bowerman, aunt Tracey Deis, cousin Michael Deis as well as extended  family and friends located throughout Western Canada and the United States. He was predeceased by his grandfather Donald Huber and grandparents G.R. (Ted) and Dagmar Bowerman.

Cole was born in Regina, SK. March 24, 1989. He moved with his family from their most recent home in Pilot Butte, SK. to Cochrane, AB. in 2000. He attended Mitford Middle School and graduated from Bow Valley High School.

He was an athlete in his youth, where he enjoyed playing competitive hockey on many successful teams in Cochrane and Airdrie during the winter months and lacrosse in the spring and summer.

Cole was gifted scholastically and went on to earn a degree in Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours), in Biomedical Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary in 2011. After graduating Cole went on to work in health research both in Calgary and Edmonton.

He could be found in his spare time enjoying video games, card magic, and exploring the local culinary hotspots. He was a competitive person with a sharp and witty sense of humour that often lit up the room.  He was a kind, gentle soul who loved and cherished time with his family and close friends and was always willing to help those in need. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Cole valued their relationship. We all treasure the time we were blessed to share with Cole although it was entirely much too short.

You will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Due to current Covid restrictions a celebration of Cole’s life will be held in the future.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the Coronary Care Unit 5A7 of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute for their dedication and the care Cole received.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to: The University of Alberta Hospital Foundation (UHF), Designation: Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute
