COOPER, Marjorie Joanne
Marjorie Joanne Cooper nee Brodie passed away on
October 2, 2019 at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary.
Joanne (never Marjorie) was born in Stettler, Alberta
on September 18, 1934. Her father worked as a mine
electrician and the family lived in both Fort McMurray
and Robb, a small mining town on the Eastern Slopes
of the Rockies, before moving back to Stettler.
Summers were spent at the cabin on Buffalo Lake.
She graduated from the nursing program at the Calgary
General Hospital in 1956 and married Bill Cooper
shortly after. The couple moved continually for the next 17 years before
settling in Cochrane in 1975. They managed to have four children in between
the moves. Joanne returned to nursing as a psychiatric nurse in 1982.
She eventually retired to High River to be close to family but especially her
grandchildren. Joanne returned to Cochrane in 2017.
Joanne is survived by her brother Grant and sister Dianne, her four children:
David (Heidi), Michael, Stephen (Susan) and Sharon (Kevin), grandchildren:
Jennie (Ryan), Branden (Vince), Niah (Dean) and Brodie as well as her
great-grandchildren: Jennie and Ryan’s Caden and Emery.
A memorial is being planned for next spring.
