John H. (Jack) Carroll

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John H. (Jack) Carroll.

Jack was born in Carrolls Crossing N.B. on February 12, 1927 to parents Alvin and Ivy and passed away in Cochrane, AB on January 08, 2023 at the age of 95.

Jack grew up in Carrolls Crossing N.B. working with horses and his father in the family owned lumbering business.  After a cold winter he decided to change occupations and joined the R.C.M.P. in Fredericton N.B. in April 1948, in hopes of getting to ride the musical ride horses. After training he started his career in Ontario, where he later transferred to St. John’s NL.  Returning to southern Ontario he met Athalie Clark.  They got married June 28 1952 in Dresden ON. and had two children John and Jeff.  He was a devoted husband and father. His 35 year career in the force took him to various detachments throughout Ontario where he ended his career in Ottawa as the Assistant Director of Criminal Operations Directorate at the rank of Chief Superintendent.  He loved his time in the force especially in London. He greatly appreciated the force’s Esprit de Core and made many lifelong friends. Following retirement in April 1982, he spent 11 years with the Bank of Canada in Ottawa as Head of Security.

He is survived by his loving wife Athalie in Cochrane AB., brother Edison (Eleanor) in Carrolls Crossing NB., sons John (Lyn) in Cochrane AB. and Jeff (Lysa) in Saskatoon SK..  Grandchildren Michael (Diana) and Lisa (Tyler) and Justin. Four great grandchildren, Liam, Emma, Daxton and Phoebe.

He is predeceased by his brother Vaughn and sister Irva.

We would like to thank all friends and extended family for their words of love and support and the staff of Bethany Care Cochrane and beyond who made him comfortable in his final days.  For this we are eternally grateful.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

A celebration of life will be held at the Cochrane AB. Legion on February 12, 2023 between 2:00 and 5:00 pm.

The family will hold a quiet celebration of life in Carrolls Crossing N.B. at a later date.
