VERES, Jennifer “Jill” (née Kerfoot)

June 17, 1950 – Calgary, Alberta

June 5, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Jennifer “Jill” Veres died peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2021 after a courageous and hard-fought battle against cancer.

Jill was born on June 17, 1950 in Calgary, Alberta. She grew up on the family’s Providence Ranche near Cochrane, Alberta. She attended Westbrook School, St. Anne's, St. Mary's, and Marymount Schools in Calgary and she graduated from Cochrane High School. Jill was high-spirited and independent and kept her teachers on their toes.

Jill studied nursing at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary and graduated in 1971. She met Bill Veres as a nursing student and they married in 1971. After graduation, Jill had a successful career in Medical Sales.

Jill had several passions throughout her life, including riding, golf, yoga, fitness and music. Despite Jill’s illness, she and Bill were able to enjoy a wonderful last summer in 2020. They rode their e-bikes all over Calgary and usually managed to ride 50 km a trip. Jill was also able to golf once or twice a week.

Jill had an infectious zest for life and threw herself into whatever she was doing. We will miss her courage, her positive attitude, her sense of humour and her ability to brighten any room that she entered.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Veres, and their two children, Heather Veres, and Cameron (Lesley and their son, Colby) Veres. She is also survived by her four siblings, Carolyn (Brian) Otto, Duncan (Lesley) Kerfoot, Hamish (Rita Sirignano) Kerfoot, and Quentin (Christine Hembrow) Kerfoot; and many nieces and nephews. Jill was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and James Kerfoot, and her in-laws, Betty and John Veres.

Due to COVID restrictions, a Celebration of Jill's Life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Jill’s obituary at
