COUNCIL COLUMN: Holiday wishes from Mayor Genung

Jeff-Genung_
It’s hard to believe we’ve almost closed the book on another year. It is great to see Cochrane filled with the sounds and sights of Christmas, which officially kicked into high gear with Cochrane Light Up.

What I notice most this time of year is how our community finds just a little more warmth and kindness, and our community spirit goes into overdrive. I encourage you to reach out and connect with your neighbours and look for opportunities to give a helping hand this season. Whether you shovel your neighbour’s sidewalk, pay for someone’s coffee or get together with family and friends, community spirit goes a long way. And I’m hopeful that the goodwill and kindness of the holiday season lasts throughout the year.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support this past year. I am honoured to serve as your Mayor and I never lose sight of the tremendous responsibility that comes with this role. I’m looking forward to all the exciting work planned for next year that will continue to shape our community.

On behalf of council and staff, I would like to wish you and your family all the best this festive season.

Happy holidays,

- Jeff Genung
