The question is, who will finish second in the Kimmett Cup? The mighty Eagle will have a team made up mostly of carriers, so with all that youth we’re certain to win.

The question is, who will finish second in the Kimmett Cup?

The mighty Eagle will have a team made up mostly of carriers, so with all that youth we’re certain to win.

We’ll have a few ringers, but we won’t tip our hand yet, as it will be worth the wait.

The Cup is played at Mitford ponds and teams can enter competitive, recreational or fun divisions.

As well this year, there’s the attempt for a world record for most participants in a hockey game, so each team will also play 10 minutes on Jan. 19 at Spray Lake Arena.

The goal is to raise $100,000 for Right to Play, that great cause headed by Cochrane’s own Martin Parnell.

Keep in mind that Right to Play matches local funds three to one which means $400,000 could go to benefit 8,000 kids worldwide.

Pop into Grand Avenue Pharmacy and talk to Reid Kimmett for all the details about the Kimmett Cup hockey tournament.

Speaking of supporting school activities, I hope my friend Darryl Mills continues to referee high school sports.

As you’ll see on page 16, Darryl was a victim of Sun Media cutbacks last week after many years at the Cochrane Times, most recently as publisher.

So Cochrane is now as it should be, a one-publisher town.

There’s a gala Dec.1 at Mitford School sponsored by the Friends of Mitford to raise funds for student activities and will feature JayDee Hypnotist.

There’ll also be the school choir and band, silent auctions and all sorts of stuff so support the school and its students.

You’re old if you can remember the days when taxes paid for everything needed at school and a fundraiser was selling fudge for UNICEF.
