It seems Town of Cochrane is run by people with no last names

I love this town and its employees but sometimes I just shake my head, like what were they thinking? A case in point. In last week’s edition of the Cochrane Times there was a full page advertisement from the town with pictures on longtime employees.

I love this town and its employees but sometimes I just shake my head, like what were they thinking?

A case in point.

In last week’s edition of the Cochrane Times there was a full page advertisement from the town with pictures on longtime employees. A nice gesture and the employees certainly deserve the publicity.

And the ad should be in the Times because it has the contract for town advertising so certainly no problem there.

But the list of employees gave their service —five to 25 years dedicated to Cochrane — and also their photograph.

But no last names.

So what’s the sense of that?

Is that just another lack of transparency from the deep thinkers at the top of the hill?

Is it a security issue?

And that hardly makes sense since they published facial photos of all the employees with their names.

I looked at that page with all the first names and no last names and thought I was at an AA meeting. What were they thinking?

You may notice this edition of the mighty Cochrane Eagle is a tad confusing.

Some ads on the right hand of the page and some on the left; some ads on top of each other and stuff like that.

The reason is we’ve taken a big step into the future and the layout has been done by computer.

For the first time since we started in 2001 I haven’t manually laid out the paper. That means I haven’t used the whiteboard to mark out the ads on the various pages.

Yep just hit a few buttons and the paper is done. Not the way we’d like perhaps but nevertheless it’s done.

So bear with us while we make these changes.

The problem with change is things change.
