Dear editor,

Having family in Cochrane, I spend some time there on occasion and take interest in what is happening in the community. With respect to the editor's comments regarding Town council, it's unfortunate that only 33 per cent of the population chose to exercise their civic duty and vote in the 2021 election.

When the citizens vote for the same people, you get the same tired, predictable ideas, attitudes, etc., and possibly, comfortable arrogance.  Not one of the councillors' changed, nor did the mayor.

The loss of four good businesses, overpriced rental spaces, inflexible zoning, and "out-of-touch" attitudes are the result of voter complacency. The responsibility lies squarely on the shoulders of non-voters. Get vocal, demand accountability for your tax dollars, and prepare to visit the polling stations in 2025.

Sincerely,

S. Turner
