Letter: Dedication to the Class of 2020

Dedication to the Class of 2020
letter-to-the-editor

The Graduating Class of 2020 is something new for us all.

It will go down in history, the tale will be tall.

The world has changed so quickly, without notice for anyone.

You have all had to change so drastically, the way to get things done.

No one can take away the pain you may feel, or the void that may be left inside.

Not being able to graduate the way you expected,

Not being able to participate with friends as you reflected.

This is a challenge, that all of you must conquer.

For the world is evolving this year, so quickly like no other.

Many people and new technologies globally are coming together.

And even though, you may miss the graduation experience of walking & talking amongst one another.

You still can graduate knowing that your family, friends & community love you like their brother.

Part of graduation is your personal celebration that you are all being challenged to find in today’s new world of virtual greetings.

Part of the importance of Graduation is also the welcoming into the world ahead and the encouraging wishes to help guide you along for your future meetings.

So, no matter what you feel…

Pain, joy, guilt, anger, fear, confusion, inspiration, nervousness, excitement, relief…

These feelings are normal and real.

These feelings are yours to learn to cope with as part of your life’s belief.

I have had the opportunity to sit in on many graduation ceremony speeches.

Truth be told, most of them are boring.

Thinking your thoughts quietly in anticipation of the evenings’ features.

Once in a while, one speaker rings true with good advice you’ll not want to be ignoring.

This year marks the year you get your keynote speaker anonymously to hopefully prevent the snoring.

So let this year, be yours to one day treasure,

Remembering how your community came together.

For when you were young, we saw so much of your cute ways and funny little blunders…

As you grew older, we saw less of you, often hearing updates from your mothers…

For if you keep your heart open to listen & comprehend what you are hearing…

You will find there are way more ways to learn & improve the situation you are bearing.

So, go forth Graduating Class of 2020

With hope & reassuring

That you are still the driver of your destiny.

The world is yours to conquer…

A new day is about to begin…

It is always your choice to jump in, dig in and make it your win!

You are part of our community,

And we love and wish you well.

Grab hold of your future…

Another time will be there for you to tell.
