Letter: Doctors leaving province compromise rural health care

Those of us who consider ourselves to be true conservatives hope these Liberal, turned Reformer Jason Kenney supporters feel really proud of themselves now that he is running doctors out of our health care system. Rural Albertans, in my opinion, are going to find their lives put at risk and lawsuits, costing taxpayers millions, will likely follow like they did when Klein did it. Losing the support of eight doctors in Sundre and ten doctors in Lac La Biche is huge for these communities, and closing the Devon hospital to emergencies is just the beginning. I doubt if they will ever get them back. Staffing rural hospitals have been an on going problem in Alberta for years. We know the privatization of health care is what it's all about. I helped nine doctors and at least two dozen nurses relocate out of the province when Klein did it and not one of them wanted to go. Klein was forced into early retirement for doing it.
