Letter: Poilievre isn't a true conservative, he's a reformer

Dear editor,

After watching what took place at Spruce Meadows last week, I was reminded of what former MLAs from the Peter Lougheed era taught me – Reformers don’t create jobs, they destroy them.

My senior conservative friends and I were disgusted by what we saw: a large number of our fellow seniors giving Conservative Party of Canada leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre a standing ovation for promising to destroy the careers of thousands of young Canadians by gutting the CBC.

This was the same Poilievre who had nothing but praise for the truckers who created the economic mess in Ottawa earlier this year with their freedom convoy, which cost taxpayers millions. After watching Poilievre's pal and Alberta Premier Jason Kenney promise to cut thousands of public sector jobs and create a nightmare for our doctors, nurses, teachers, and students, I would have expected these applauding seniors to be a lot smarter. Apparently, that’s too much to ask.

These two Reformers have proven again they have no compassion for anyone but themselves, and there is little conservative about them.
