LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Late voting hours for Rocky View County turned away voters

The numbers of people who showed up at the polls before 10 a.m. show that Rocky View County missed the mark

I wonder what the outcome of the Rocky View election would have been if the hours the polls were open were better advertised?

The RVC polls opened at 10 a.m., the widely publicized Calgary polls opened at 8 a.m. and polls in Cochrane opened at 7 a.m.

In a 10 minute period just after 9 a.m., I saw several people try to vote and then leave when they learned the RVC poll was not yet open. How many did not vote at all?

With a few close elections and potentially hundreds of people possibly unable to return to polls to vote, who would have been elected?

I think RVC should either coordinate times with Calgary or be prepared to widely advertise a difference in hours.

The numbers of people who showed up at the polls before 10 a.m. show that Rocky View County missed the mark.
