Happy New Year Cochrane!  2021 is a fresh opportunity for positive outlooks and enthusiasm as we continue to be a community that is the best place to live, work and play.

You will find in the centre pages of this edition of the paper all of the physical projects Cochrane is working on as a community this year, which I am excited about.

Here we are in the final week of January, many feeling tired and exhausted as we continue to try and maintain balance in our lives in a world that seems to seesaw between extremes. If we allow ourselves to focus on the dark parts of the themes of 2020, it becomes very difficult to see the light of the future.

Building something— Whether it is a physical thing, a relationship, a connection, a network, all require some kind of foundation to build upon. Cochrane’s resilience has been its strong foundation, made even stronger throughout this last year of adversity.

Building means we are moving forward, we are creating. We are also honouring our past and the journeys we took to get to where we are today. And, with the resilience of our community firmly in place, the light of the future begins to burn brighter. It gives us hope, courage and the will to keep going.

I have hope for this year, our future, knowing we will all continue to enrich the social fabric of our community. Our connections keep us together, and resilient, to all adversity. I look forward to building and creating with all of you in 2021.
