If you are looking for a fun movie with your kids, or want to release the kid inside you, come visit Hotel Transylvania playing at The Cochrane Movie House this week.

Dracula, played by Adam Sandler; who also produced and directed this movie; invites some popular and somewhat legendary monsters including Frankenstein (Kevin James); The Mummy, and The Invisible Man (David Spade) to help celebrate his daughter Mavis’s 118th birthday, played by Selena Gomez. When a human stumbles upon the resort and falls for Dracula’s daughter, the Count has a hard time letting go of the daughter he so fiercely protects.

Monsters are played by Hollywood favourites aplenty. In addition to Sandler and James, voices include Andy Samberg, Fran Drescher, Molly Shannon, Jon Lovitz and more.

Once again, these newer kids flicks are catered to adults with so many lines.

Some rude humour even finds itself into this fun, old school “cartoon”. The best elements of any movies in this genre are the lessons we learn.

In this case, the message was on prejudice, and not to judge who and what we know nothing about. A lesson that is never too young or too old to be learned.

This movie is brilliantly funny. It offers an impressive story and wonderful animation for all ages.

Whilst the young ones may miss the odd line, they will get the movie for the most part and will be enjoyed for years to come should you buy it on Blu-ray. Go see it.

It is the perfect October fun movie to see.

We give this an 8.5 out of 10.
