Voice of the Pioneers series headlines schedule at SOTB

The headline event for March at Seniors on the Bow (SOTB) is the third in the Voice of the Pioneers series. A provocative title, “All You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask,” will be addressed by Dr.

A provocative title, “All You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask,” will be addressed by Dr. Cora Voyageur, a distinguished scholar.

Dr. Voyageur teaches aboriginal studies at the University of Calgary and resides in Bragg Creek. This event is on March 27 at 7 p.m. in the SOTB auditorium. Cost is $4 for advance tickets and $5 at the door. Coffee and dessert will be served at intermission.

The Voice of the Pioneer series has drawn large crowds and this one should as well. Come early.

March, being Green month, we will see spring arrive on March 20. SOTB will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Friday Happy Hours Fun Day on March 15, at 2 p.m. Cash bar will serve wine and green beer. Irish, and those who wish they were Irish, wear something green. No square dancing but it will resume in April.

Other March activities include book club on March 22 at 2 p.m. discussing Jane Fonda’s book, Prime Time. Creative writing group meets Tuesdays, at 6 p.m. on March 12 and 26. This group invites new and experienced writers.

Hymn sing, a popular event, happens on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. on March 24. Refreshments will be served.

Upcoming movies are The Life of Pi, a well received drama of a boy’s adventure with a Bengal tiger. This shows on March 18 at 1:30 p.m. On March 25 at 1:30 p.m., Cirque de Soleil — Worlds Away shows featuring dancers and aerialists from the circus performers.

The first week in April is Easter week. The Drop-In Centre will be closed on March 29, Good Friday and April 1, Easter Monday. Otherwise the Drop In Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information or registration contact the Drop In Centre at 403-932-4286 or cochrane.ca/50plus.
