Dog owners in Rocky View County (RVC) are being reminded to renew their annual licences for their four-footed, furry friends.

According to a recent news release from RVC, all dogs over three months of age and living in Rocky View County must be licensed beginning this month. Although the licences do not expire, they will need to be renewed on an annual basis.

The County had previously eliminated annual dog licencing fees in 2019, but does fine the owners of unlicenced dogs $150 each. Those who falsify information regarding their dog ownership can be fined up to $500.

Dog owners are required to contact RVC to provide the correct contact information and request a licence or a replacement tag for their dogs.

Residents can update their phone number, email address, municipal or mailing address, or dog ownership status at any time by emailing [email protected] or calling 403-230-1401.

New dog owners are required to complete and return a dog licence application form, which can be downloaded from the County’s website at rockyview.ca/dog-licensing

The form can either be emailed, mailed in or returned in person to Rocky View County.
