The Bow Valley Rugby Club will be hosting the fourth annual Dueling Pianos event at the Frank Wills Memorial Hall on Feb. 12-13.

Doors open each evening at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 8:30 p.m. at the hall located at 405 1st St. East in Cochrane.

Performing will be the founder of the original Dueling Pianos, Van Walraven, and the equally talented Gary Giampaolo.

Walraven came up with the concept for Dueling Pianos around 20 years ago and continues to perform at venues all over the world. Giampaolo has years of experience under his belt as well.

Both performers know around 5,000 tunes between them. Dueling Pianos is a 100 per-cent all-request event; when an audience member makes a donation they may choose a song to be played.

If another audience member doesn’t like the song, they may donate more in order to stop the song being played and to have a song of their choosing played instead. This is where the dueling comes into play.

The larger a donation is, the faster the performers will play the song request.

Alcohol will be served at a cash bar. An automated teller machine (ATM) will be on location.

All proceeds from the event will be put back into the community with the donations raised by Dueling Pianos going towards the Bow Valley Rugby Club.

The club intends to use the funds raised to pay for equipment and to keep the cost of registration low for its players.
