Visions Theater seeking entrants for Foothills festival of one-act plays

Officials at Cochrane Vision Theatre are hoping to enter one or more plays into the forthcoming Alberta Drama Festival Association’s “Foothills Zone” Festival in Canmore at the end of April, hosted by Canmore’s Pinetree Players.

Officials at Cochrane Vision Theatre are hoping to enter one or more plays into the forthcoming Alberta Drama Festival Association’s “Foothills Zone” Festival in Canmore at the end of April, hosted by Canmore’s Pinetree Players.

Deadline for submissions for the one-act festival is Feb. 8.

Other than the bounds of “good taste” there is no restriction on the kind of one-act play to be submitted. The Vision Theatre Board will consider all entry submissions and those that are found to be suitable will be prioritized and submitted to the festival organizers for consideration. Organizers may accept more than one entry but there is no guarantee.

Vision Theatre Board member Jonathan Bennett is hopeful the Foothills Zone festival entry will encourage more people to become a part of Vision Theatre.

“For experienced and novice actors and back-stage crew, one-act plays are an excellent way to get involved in the theater without having to commit to a major production,” Bennett explained. “An important festival so close to Cochrane is a real opportunity for the many talented people in the town to show the rest of Alberta what we can do, so the more entries the better.”

Any potential directors wishing to enter a one-act play for consideration as part of Vision Theatre’s entry should contact Bennett as soon as possible; e-mail [email protected] or phone 403-604-1633 and give an email address in order to receive details on entry criteria.
