Cochrane singer/songwriter Lucas Chaisson has received a 2012 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination as “Young Performer of the Year”.

“This nomination means a great deal to me. I put a lot into (new record Growing Pains) and it is an incredible feeling to be recognized by my peers,” said the 18-year-old.

“This nomination validates all the efforts that both I and my team have been putting in, especially over this past year.’

Growing Pains was released in June and has already earned many accolades since its release.

Mike Sadava of Penguin Eggs magazine wrote: “With a lot of confidence and self-direction, Chaisson can look past his growing pains to a bright future.”

Chaisson’s first release, No Loitering, earned him a nomination for "Young Performer of the Year" at the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Awards, along with invitations to many of the country’s most prestigious festivals, including the Edmonton, Canmore and Winnipeg Folk Festivals.
