A fire that ravaged a Bearspaw home during the afternoon of Oct. 10 is still under investigation.

Although foul play is not thought to be a factor, Rocky View County Fire Chief, Ken McMullen said the cause is unknown; estimated damages have also not yet been established.

Nobody was hurt in the fire, which had completely engulfed the house in flames by the time emergency crews arrived on scene; the home owner and a plumber were in the house when it caught fire, but were able to safely get out of the house, located near Township Road 262 and Lochend Road in the community of Bearspaw.

“The house was lost before we could even try to save it,” said McMullen.

“The long driveway posed a complex water issue...the fire service members from Calgary, Cochrane and Rocky View worked together flawlessly to mitigate the fire by utilizing a relay pump and a shuttle water system.”

Alberta Health Services also attended the scene, as did Cochrane and Calgary RCMP; Fortis Alberta and ATCO responded to manage the utilities.
