As a show of support for Cochrane's current bid in Kraft Hockeyville, March 25 to 30 is officially recognized as Hockey Week in Cochrane.

To support for Cochrane’s current bid for Kraft Hockeyville, council officially recognizes March 25 to 30 as Hockey Week in Cochrane.

Cochrane is one of the final top four communities gunning for the chance to win a grand prize of $250,000 and the chance to host an NHL pre-season game. If won, the prize funds would be used to upgrade facilities at the Cochrane Arena, or the ‘Old Barn,’ which turns 50 years old this year.

As a competition that brings the community together and celebrates hockey, Cochrane is asking Albertans to rally behind the community as they hope to bring the title back for a second time.

Residents can get involved by wearing their favourite hockey gear, and by posting photos or videos with the tag #krafthockeyville.

There will also be a special community rally on Mar 28 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cochrane arena, and everyone is invited to register to vote. Voting is open to anyone aged 14 and over, and voting is unlimited.
