Rachel Berscht won the senior girl’s high jump to help lead the Cochrane High School Cobras to the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 3A (Tier 2) track-and-field title June 7 in Calgary.

Berscht’s golden 1.65-metre leap was the top individual finish for a Cobras team that sent 25 athletes to compete in 33 events at the provincial high-school meet.

Mackenzie Oshanek-Gladue took silver in the junior girls 3,000-metre run and Emily Rendell bronze in the senior girl’s 200-metre dash. Chandra Irvine, Shannon Denison, Berscht and Rendell teamed up to take bronze in the senior girl’s 4x100 relay.

“All of the Cochrane High School Cobras track-and-field coaches are extremely proud of all our athletes, and their hard work this season,” Cobras track co-coach Hayleigh Austin exclaimed.
