It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pauline Caroline Chornoby of Cochrane Alberta on December 22nd, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

Pauline passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.

Pauline was born on September 29th, 1935 in Cedoux, Saskatchewan. Being the eldest of 6 children, she had many responsibilities helping out on the family farm. Pauline attended Cedoux School for 12 years, then took a business course at Weyburn Collegiate and worked for 3 years at Saskatchewan Hospital. She later worked as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist for 23 years in Flin Flon, Manitoba.

Pauline met and married the love of her life George in 1958 and raised their 4 children in Flin Flon. They retired to Cochrane, Alberta in 1993 where Pauline lived until the time of her passing.

Together Pauline and George enjoyed their retirement years with a variety of activities including; sharing quality time with family and friends, travel, camping, golf, square dancing and curling. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, crocheting and knitting.

Pauline also enjoyed volunteering in numerous capacities, such as, a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Rosary making and at the Bethany Care Centre. One of her proudest accomplishments was her involvement with the Seniors for Kids Society - “Grandparents Program” at the Holy Spirit School where she volunteered for 25 years.

Pauline and George were lifelong active members of the Catholic Church.

Pauline will be deeply missed by her husband George of 65 years; children, Patricia (Larry) Mogck, Gail (Scott) Starchuk, Brian (Kathy) Chornoby, Brenda (Chris) Zanetti; grandchildren, Kendra (Ben), Justin (Carly), Jenna (Robby), Brandon (Danielle), Tyler, Jamie, Zachary (Kelsey), Maxwell and Ty; great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Mila, and Morgan; sisters, Janina Sittnick and family, Josephine (Hank) Klatt and family; brother, Bernie (Lola) Goski and family; sister-in-law, Mary Goski and family; and numerous other extended family and friends.

Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Antonina Goski, and her brothers, Leonard and Julian Goski.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (10 River Heights Dr, Cochrane, AB) on Friday January 5th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Dennis Vavrek presiding. Interment will take place on Monday January 8th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Cemetery Columbarium in Cochrane.

Special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Leung and the Staff on Unit 71 and Unit 32 at the Foothills Hospital, for their care and compassion during Pauline’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
