LITTLEJOHN, R. Bruce

April 17, 1940 – September 13, 2023

Robert Bruce Littlejohn passed away on September 13, 2023 in Calgary Alberta. Bruce was born to Lewis and Hellen Littlejohn on April 17, 1940. Although he grew up on an orchard in Erickson BC, Bruce loved everything mechanical and went on to become an accomplished diesel mechanic. In 1981 he put these skills to use starting up a mechanics school called Salam Training Center in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The center provided students with practical mechanical training and life skills so that they could support themselves and also bless their communities. He passed on this work to others and returned to Canada in 1993 and settled in Calgary Alberta. Since his return, he has dedicated his time to helping many international students who have come to Study in Calgary feel welcomed and taken care of through a group called International Student Ministries Canada. Bruce is survived by his wife Kerstin; three children, Gunnar, David, and Joshua; as well as his six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dianne; along with his cousin, nephews, and nieces all of whom he cared deeply about. Bruce loved to help and always cared for the people he met. Despite the time he spent at his business serving faithfully in his work and in the community, Bruce loved his family and always took the time to help and be with us. Most of all Bruce had a deep love for God that shone through in everything he did. The Funeral Service for Bruce will be held at Cochrane Alliance Church (902 Glenbow Drive, Cochrane, AB) on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00 am and livestreamed for those unable to attend. We would love to have your presence with us as we mourn our loss and celebrate Bruce’s life. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Bruce’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.
