NICHOLS, Shirley Ann

November 24, 1958 – April 10, 2020

It is with deep sadness that the family of Shirley Ann Nichols announces her passing on April 10th, 2020. Shirley passed suddenly and unexpectedly – The Lord called her home. Shirley was born in Swift Current, SK to John & Anne Bartsch and the second oldest of 6 siblings. In 1972 the family moved to Abbotsford, BC where Shirley graduated. She then attended Bible School in Kelowna for 2 years, married in 1978 and moved to Edmonton in 1981 where she raised her family. She moved to Cochrane in the Spring of 2015 to be close to her grandchildren.

Shirley was a gentle, kind-hearted and giving soul and always put others first. She was a hardworking and loyal employee of Woolco and later Walmart for almost 40 years. Shirley was also a talented Artist who could create an impressive display with whatever available. Her front porch was always decorated for the season, and was her favourite spot for her morning coffee, for reading and for long phone conversations with her sister Lucy. Shirley loved the simple things in life such as gardening, coffee dates and listening to the Gaithers Gospel and Country Music.

Shirley was a devoted and loving Mother and Grandmother. She will be profoundly missed by her daughters Melissa Nichols (Bryce Mawbey) of Cochrane and Cheyanne Nichols (Zach Forstl) of Edmonton and her grandchildren Aspen Mawbey & Norah Mawbey of Cochrane.  She is also survived by her 5 siblings, Emily (Ken) Peters, Gary (Jackie) Bartsch, Elsie (Dave) Wiebe, Vic (Pat) Bartsch, and Lucy (Les) Mayes; her aunts Tina, Betty and Margaret; her uncle Frank; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date.

Condolences may be left for the family at www.cochranecountryfuneralhome.com. Ph: 403-932-1039.
