Jacob Brown from Airdrie won $250,000 from a February 2024 Lotto Max draw.

Airdrie resident, Jacob Brown, is celebrating a $250,000 lottery win after buying a ticket for the Feb. 9 Lotto Max and Extra draw.

“I’ve bought five lottery tickets in my life,” he said in his prize claim interview with the Western Canadian Lottery Corporation (WCLC). “My Grandma recently won $500,000 on Lotto Max and told everyone to buy a ticket here and there.”

Flooded with disbelief and joy, he said he was “happy and panicked” and immediately called his mom. "She thought I said $250, so her response was, 'That's nice.' But it's actually very nice!"

He said he wants to be smart with his money.

When asked about his plans, he said he intends to put some away for the future and keeping a little bit for himself.

“I don’t want the money to change me," he said.

He purchased the $6 winning ticket at the Real Canadian Superstore located at 300 Veterans Blvd NE in Airdrie. He won by matching the Extra number – 5931437.
