GoFundMe created to help grieving families of Didsbury teens killed in rollover

Fundraisers set up to raise $20,000 each for the families of Didsbury High School students who died days after Christmas

DIDSBURY - Communities are coming together to support friends and family of two Didsbury teens killed in a single-vehicle rollover south of Carstairs Wednesday.

Reid Fisher, also known as Reid Holuk, 16, and Lila Morrison, 14, were the Didsbury High School students who died at the intersection of Township Road 292 and Range Road 14 in Mountain View County Dec. 27.

Go Fund Me pages have been set up for the families of both victims with the goal to raise $20,000 each to help cover funeral and other expenses. Both already have several thousand dollars in donations.

Police were called to the intersection shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, where Fisher and Morrison were found dead at the scene. The crash remain remains under investigation, with police already saying alcohol was not a factor.

In a post on her Facebook page, Fisher’s mother Rachelle said, “It’s is with unimaginable sorrow that I share this sad news, yesterday afternoon the Lord called my son Reid home. After a great day spent with his “love you more”, they were suddenly taken from us in a tragic accident.”

She also quoted a biblical passage from John 3-16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Organizers of the GoFundMe page for Reid posted: “When a huge tragedy happens we need to gather together in love and kindness. Reid was a friend, a son, and a brother, and will be greatly missed. As he was taken way too soon but left a huge impact on many lives.”

Organizers of the GoFundMe page for Morrison posted: “Sadly Lila our sweet angel, the girl who would light up any room she entered, the girl who loved cats and had an unwavering passion for volleyball passed away tragically at the young age of 14 on December 27th 2023.

“The family is beyond devastated and needs our help more then ever to get through this time, any donation big or small is so much appreciated and if you cannot donate please share this on all your social media’s, tell your friends and family.

“Nothing will take the pain away, but we’re hoping that the family can take the time they need to grieve and not worry about bills, and rushing back to work.”

Both Reid and Morrison were students at Didsbury High School.

Morrison worked at her mother's Uptowne Olds Massage and Wellness shop in Olds.

"With a broken heart it pains me to announce that my daughter Lila, our Saturday receptionist, passed away Dec 27. I don’t know how long I will be out of commission but I thank you deeply for your personal support and your support for my small business," Gwen Morrison posted on the business' Facebook page.

Chinook’s Edge School Division will be offering grief and mental health supports to any student needing or wanting it, says superintendent Kurt Sacher.
