A 59-year-old Carstairs woman is facing two charges of counselling to commit the indictable offence of murder.

“On February 12, Didsbury RCMP and Southern Alberta District RCMP General Investigative Section entered into an investigation after learning an individual was asked by a female to kill another person,” said RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney.

Following an extensive investigation, police charged Audra Symbalisty, a resident of Carstairs, under Section 464(a) of the Criminal Code on Feb. 28.

Cpl. Slaney told the Albertan the intended victim was an adult.

She declined to say whether that person was a man or woman or to provide any information on the person allegedly approached by the accused.

Symbalisty has been remanded in custody pending a March 1 appearance in Alberta Court of Justice in Okotoks.

Section 464(a) of the Criminal Code states that “every one who counsels another person to commit an indictable offence is, if the offence is not committed, guilty of an indictable offence and liable to the same punishment to which a person who attempts to commit that offence is liable.”
