Suspect arrested in stabbing death of a Saddle Lake man

A 22-year-old man is behind bars after being alleged to have killed another man in the early morning of June 17 in the community of Saddle Lake Cree Nation.

SADDLE LAKE – A 22-year-old man is behind bars after being alleged to have killed another man in the early morning of June 17 in the community of Saddle Lake Cree Nation. 

At 2:52 a.m. on Saturday, St. Paul RCMP received a report of a stabbing at a residence in Saddle Lake. 

When officers arrived at the residence, they located a deceased man outside, according to information provided by police. 

While on scene, RCMP located and apprehended a suspect in relation to the stabbing. 

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Saddle Lake resident, Ralph Francis Large. 

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has since taken over carriage of the investigation. 

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged 22-year-old Saddle Lake resident, Louis Large, with second degree murder. 

Large was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded in custody. His next court appearance is set for June 22 at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul. 

As this matter is now before the courts, RCMP say no further information will be released.
